Austin Healey MKIIa 3000
The Austin Healey 3000 was launched in 1959 and ended production in 1967. It was known as the 'big Healey' due to its large engine. The 3ltr replaced the Austin Healey 100-6. The body and wheel base remained the same, but two unusable rear seats were added!
The MKII Austin Healey was introduced in 1961 and was originally released with triple carburettors and improved camshaft. However because of difficulties keeping the triple carbs balanced a twin carb set up was introduced (our car has the twin carb setup). MKII extras included wind up windows, instead of sliding, an improved soft top and wrap around front windscreen.
All Models of the BIG HEALEY have had some competition history and have raced all around the world. BMC competition department rallied the 3ltr Healey from its inception, but ended its development when the Mini Cooper 'S' was released.
Our particular Austin Healey, a MKIIa came to us as a prepared rally car that did a number of events in the hands of its last owner. Including "Le Jog". A Lands End to John O' Groats competition. It has now been returned to road spec.
"Annie" as she is affectionately known, has a big engine and is quite a handful of a motor car. She requires sympathetic handling to get the best from her but will reward you with a truely classic driving experience you will never forget!
